Business is booming for Libby Beckett and her fabulous Maryland shop, aptly named Y.A.R.N., but when a town festival brings a fatality with it, Libby gets all tangled up in murder.
As spring comes to Collinstown, the village launches a food festival to draw a new group of tourists. Libby, proud owner of Y.A.R.N., has planned a yarn event to provide an alternative option to a foodie weekend. Artisan fiber dyer Julie Wilson—known for her work with animal-friendly, plant-based knitting fibers such as bamboo and hemp as well as her brilliant use of color—will hopefully draw a crowd with a special dyeing workshop.
The festival begins, but it draws more than crowds. First a flock of sheep parades down the street, herded by farmers protesting Julie’s antiwool stance. Then Julie’s celebrity chef sister appears, and the siblings resume a long-standing rivalry. Despite all this, Julie’s workshop has sold out. Libby is thrilled, and they’re preparing for a full house. But the night before the event, Julie is found alone in the warehouse event space—dead. The witty “Watch Julie Wilson Dye” workshop title now has a terrible new meaning—and it’s up to Libby to catch a crafty killer.

Maryland's See More Than Sea Food Festival is marred by murder. Mayor Gavin Maddock's clever plan to increase tourism to Collinstown depends on many different moving pieces, including Libby Beckett's promotion at her knitting shop, Y.A.R.N. Since returning to her hometown after a divorce, Libby has renewed old acquaintances, including Gavin Maddock, her high school love, and made new ones. Although she knows that Julie Wilson, whom she's invited to give a workshop, is an advocate for plant-based fibers for yarn, she's shocked when local sheep farmers stage a protest by driving flocks of sheep down the main street, accusing Julie of trying to ruin their livelihood. Knowing of the amazing colors Julie has achieved in her yarns, Libby's rented a space in a warehouse for her fiber-dyeing workshop. Also in town for the festival is Chef Monica Wilson, Julie's sister, and the two fight like cats and dogs. After trading insults with Monica at the festival's opening reception, Julie goes off to start dyeing fibers in preparation for the workshop. At the same time, a fire in the kitchen where Monica is cooking looks like arson. When the police try to question Julie, they find the warehouse locked and the exhaust fans not running. Inside, Julie is dead from the fumes, the door and fans blocked with shepherd's crooks. Of course the local shepherds are suspects, but since Julie had plenty of other enemies, Libby must work with the sheriff and her friends to uncover a killer. Keeps the small-town charm of the series debut while adding more mystery.

The mayor of Collinstown, Maryland, has planned a See More Than Sea Food Festival to kick-off the tourist season and highlight the town's small businesses. As part of the event, Libby Bennett, owner of Y.A.R.N., a yarn store whose initialism stands for whatever you think it should, is hosting an indie dyer who is an outspoken animal-rights activist and works only with plant-based fibers to produce her vibrant yet nuanced colorways. Upon her arrival, the local shepherds stage a protest, herding sheep down the main street. Before the festival can begin, the dyer is found asphyxiated; her sister, a renowned chef also in town, blames Libby for the accident. Soon it's revealed that the dyer's death was no accident. A shepherd's crook thrown through the front window of Y.A.R.N. draws Libby and her friends--and Libby's mother and her friends--into the investigation. Pleiter's experience as a romance writer shines through as she celebrates the growing relationship between Libby and the town's mayor. Yarnies will enjoy the discussions of dye processes and appreciate the appended knitting pattern.
