《问鼎天下》是莽原继《炎黄大帝》之后的又一部长篇小说，内容可分为两大部分，前半部分主要写我国商末周初的一段故事，但不同于神话小说《封神演义》，除了以武侠的表现形式外，贵在将神话人物生活化，有血有肉，栩栩如生。后半部分主要写商周的两路人马出于不同目的，水陆并进，历经艰险拓荒美洲大陆的悲壮故事。从神秘开篇到壮烈结尾，贯穿大量历史典故、攻防谋略、正邪斗法，以及周易八卦、武林拳技等，意蕴极为丰富。( Conquest of the Middle Land is a long novel after Yan Emperor and Huang Emperor, its content can be divided into two parts, the first half part mainly describes a story in the end of Shang Dynasty and beginning of Zhou Dynasty of our country, but it is different from the myth novel Investiture of the Gods, except the manifestation form of Kung Fu, it makes mythical figures become living, full of vivid details and as natural as though it were living. The latter half part mainly describes the solemn and stirring story that two teams in Shang and Zhou Dynasties advance both by land and water with different goals and go through hardships and dangers and open up virgin soil of American Continent. From the mysterious openings to the heroic ending, it runs through a large number of historical allusions, attack and defense strategy, fighting of good and evil, the bible of changes and eight diagrams as well as boxing skill of martial arts and so on with abundant implication. )
