In Bradley's third Pearl River tale of romantic suspense, following Fatal Witness (2024), deputy Jenna Hart believes a couple found on a winding road were murdered. She was hoping for a fresh start in Russell County after surviving a shooting and dealing with PTSD at her former department. But when her former colleague, TBI Max Anderson, is assigned to work with her, she can't help remembering the lone kiss they once shared, and he has always regretted not staying in contact with her. The two find evidence of the murder, but Jenna finds herself investigating more murders as all the architects of a land sale in the town are killed. The deals made many unhappy in past years and could even be tied to the death of Jenna's grandfather. When her past returns to threaten her, Jenna and Max move fast to catch the network of criminals. Bradley continues to deliver taut suspense with a light overlay of romance and faith in her well-crafted stories.
